Vienna and Mexico. Votivkirche burial place of Maximilian I von Habsburg emperor of Mexico. Mexican church in Vienna

What happened to the Emperor of Mexico Maximilian von Habsburg (actually Ferdinand Maximilian) is probably a great example of the fact that Franz Joseph really hated all objections to himself. Maximilian was a brother of the Austrian emperor and we can say that  met a family curse like Sissi and Rudolf, he died in cruell way. In 1859, monarchists from Mexico proposed the throne to the Habsburgs, Maximilian rejected the proposal as if he was sacred of something. However, the invasion of Napoleon III's army to Mexico, country which is the biggest competition for the Habsburgs, and probably a fake plebiscite in Mexico, it allowed to believe in ''casting'' to the throne could be good chose for Habsurg, and  gave the  chance of success of this plan. Regarding the lie  the  Napoleon III definitely pierced his family ancestor. Franz Joseph belied in plan more strongly than Maximilian himself. Maximilian was the beloved son of a royal couple and a competitor to the throne. In a few years he will get rid of his own son. Maximilian possessed everything that Franz Joseph did not have: fantasy, personal charm, scientific interests, and he was an advocate of political reforms. Austrians also liked Maksymilian more. It is the opposite of a man who even considered the toilet as devilish invention.

For these reasons, Franz Joseph since a long time wanted to disappear his brother. This provoked the reluctance of Franz Joseph and even making the brother's life uncomfortable. Inthe fall of 1863, Maximilian, who was increasingly tormented by siblings, driven by the ambition of his wife's wife, Charlotte decides to go to Mexico. Mother could not convince the Emperor to change his decision even if the previous Emperor Augustine was shot. Maximilian went on a journey straight to his death. Even his mother, advised him that decision. She lost the desire to live after her son's death.

At the beginning, the liberals with Benito Juarez led against him, that bagan an open civil war between monarchists consisting of fancuses and republicans. Emperor stirred in Chapultepec, because pair had no children, they decided to adopt the son of the previous Emperor. However, contrary to the expectations of the French, the emperor supported the liberal reforms of Juarez and also gave him amnesty, which he did not acept because his co-workers continued to be decamped. However that decisions and some liberal changes was not acepted either the convergeist in Mexico or the French, and of course by his brother. After the Civil War, America, as usual, decided to try to defend the problems of other countries by creating an even greater mess there and then leaving the local people to their fate. Mexican republicans got caught receiving firearms and help from the US, also threatening to intervention,Napoleon III, as a great typical Frenchman, when he discovered problems run away.

The emperor's wife went on a trip to Europe asking for help, she did not receive it in Rome or France or even from the king's brother. Who woke up too late, restoring Austria's dynastic rights to his brother when the death sentence had already been signed. This decision he delayed too long. The emperor was brutally shot, which led his wife to a mental illness from which she never left. Although she herself was not an exemplary wife and helped her give birth to an illegitimate son during a trip around Europe. Napoleon III went to Salzburg in August 1867 to express regret over the emperor's death. The Emperor's mother did not attend the meeting. Until death, she blamed her son and his wife for having forced Maximilian to leave.Votivkirche church is modeled after Stephansdom, it is in neo-gothic style. This remote piece from the center of the church with the golden altar became the resting place of the Emperor of Mexico. Inside you will find numerous references to Mexico, including a copy of Our Lady of Guadalupe, traditional Mexican decorations in a huge sarcophagus rests an unhappy abandoned emperor. The church, as the name suggests, is a daily act of thankfulnses for the Emperor's return home. Unfortunately, the dead emperor. Expecial polish wikipiedia unfortunately gives bad information about the rest place  of the ruler, giving him place in the famous crypt of the Capuchins, actually the emperor rested there until the momement when  the church construction were ended. Then his body was moved. What's left of the Emperor. Few people know that  the famous Mexican prom debut young girls on the occasion of their 15th birthday dressed in beautiful dresses, called a quinceanera beginning with a mass and then dancing with a Viennese Waltz , was introduced by the emperor. He  supposed to let even the poorest girl feel the princess for once.
